NJ TRANSIT POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT IN NEWARK SHOOTING

Bober today asked the public to share information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect wanted in connection with the March 8 shooting at Orange Street Station on the Newark City Subway. The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Nakia L. Scott of Newark, N.J. A warrant for Scott’s arrest has been issued by Essex County Superior Court. A 37-year-old woman was shot while she waited for a subway train at the Orange Street Station at 5:15 p.m. The victim was waiting with her daughter and a friend when she was struck by a single bullet. She was taken to University Hospital, where she was treated and released. Another woman, 18, was grazed with a bullet as she stood with her three-year-old son; she did not request medical attention. The NJ TRANSIT Police Department is seeking the public’s help in determining the suspect’s whereabouts. Anyone with information regarding Nakia L.
