NEWARK, NJ – NJ TRANSIT’s MidTOWN DIRECT Montclair-Boonton Line service continues to be suspended while crews work to repair overhead wire, which was downed by a tree in the Montclair area earlier this afternoon.

Customers departing New York for Montclair are advised to travel via PATH from 33rd Street – where cross-honoring is in effect – to Hoboken Terminal for connections to diesel-powered Montclair trains.

Customers can also take MidTOWN DIRECT Morristown Line or Gladstone Branch trains and transfer at Broad Street Station for connections to Montclair. Due to the limited service, these trains may be crowded.

To accommodate customers, NJ TRANSIT has made the following arrangements:

  • NJ TRANSIT will provide eastbound bus service from Montclair State University Station at Little Falls to Newark Broad Street Station for connections to MidTOWN DIRECT Morristown Line or Gladstone Branch service into New York.
  • Cross honoring is in effect with DeCamp, 33rd Street PATH Station, and NJ TRANSIT bus line numbers 11, 28 and 29 bus, which travel from Newark through Montclair.

NJ TRANSIT customers are advised to check www.njtransit.com for up-to-the-minute system information before starting their trip. Service information is also available by calling 1-800-772-2222 or from broadcast traffic reports.
