NEWARK, NJ – Allwood Park & Ride customers now have 150 more reasons to use the commuter lot. NJ TRANSIT has completed the first phase of the lot’s expansion and has brought online 150 new parking spaces. When the project is completed in June, the lot will boast 300 new parking spaces, nearly doubling its capacity to 695 vehicles.

Conveniently located adjacent to Route 3 and the Garden State Parkway in Clifton, Allwood Park & Ride provides access to NJ TRANSIT express bus service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan.

In addition to the new parking capacity, NJ TRANSIT will construct a bus shelter, install two ticket vending machines, and improve lighting at the facility.

“The demand for commuter parking on NJ TRANSIT’s system has increased over the past several years, especially in North Jersey where more residents are choosing transit over sitting in traffic on the Garden State Parkway,” said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director George D. Warrington.

Earlier this month, NJ TRANSIT announced new parking discounts at Ramsey Route 17 Station on the Main/Bergen lines, and at Montclair State University Station on the Montclair-Boonton Line. Customers will save up to 50 percent over daily parking rates when they purchase multi-month parking, now through June 30.

It is the third largest transit system in the country with 162 rail stations, 52 light rail stations and more than 17,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
