NJ TRANSIT DETOURS FOUR BUS ROUTES DURING ROUTE 9 CONSTRUCTION
Bus routes 64, 67, 139 and 836 affected

NEWARK, NJ –– Beginning Monday, August 16, 2004, and continuing for 18-months, NJ TRANSIT’s Bus Routes No. 64, No. 67 and No. 139 will operate on detour schedules in Freehold due to a State Department of Transportation construction project to rebuild the Route 9—Throckmorton Street Bridge. Below are details of the affected routes.
Nos. 64, 67, and 139 southbound service: These bus routes will not provide southbound service on Throckmorton Street between Route 9 and East Broad Street. Customers who use southbound bus stops in this area should use the bus stop at Freehold Center.
Nos. 64, 67, and 139 northbound service: The No. 64 and the No. 67 northbound trips that do not serve Freehold Raceway Mall, and the No. 139 northbound service to the Freehold Mall, that do not operate via South Street (NJ 79), will operate on a detour between Route 9 at Park Avenue and Freehold Center. Existing northbound bus stops located on Throckmorton Street in Freehold will not be affected by this detour. However, there will be no southbound service on Throckmorton Street for the return trip. Customers who board along Throckmorton Street should use the bus stop at Freehold Center for their return trip.
The northbound No. 67 serving the Freehold Raceway Mall and the northbound No. 139 operating via South Street (NJ 79) will not be affected by the construction project.
In addition, Bus Route No. 836 – operated by Connex TCT – will also operate on a detour between Freehold Raceway Mall and Freehold Center on all trips toward Asbury Park. Existing bus stops located on Throckmorton Street in Freehold will not be affected by the detour routing. However, customers traveling toward Asbury Park should expect delays.
