We're in this Together
The NJ TRANSIT Police Department (NJTPD) wants to team up with you to keep our transit system safe and secure. That's why we offer a fast and convenient way for you to report suspicious activity or unattended packages on our system via our website or through the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.
Text your tips discreetly to NJTPD (65873) or call 1-888-TIPS-NJT, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your text or call is fielded at the NJTPD Central Communications Center where a police supervisor can speak with you directly or reply to your text message. When sharing information with the police, please provide as much detail as possible, such as the date, time and location of the incident, a detailed description of the package, activity and/or person(s) involved, what bus or train line you are on, and the bus, rail car or light rail vehicle number you are riding in.
All calls and texts are investigated and all information is confidential. Please note: to report a crime in progress or request immediate police or emergency assistance, customers should call 9-1-1 or the NJ TRANSIT Police Communications Center at 1-973-378-6565.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure transit system.
