NEWARK LIGHT RAIL BLOOMFIELD AVENUE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) ACCESS IMPROVEMENTS

Project Scope:

This project involves the renovation and rehabilitation of the existing station and will involve a number of major improvements. Among the improvements will be the installation of two elevators to provide service between street level and the platforms. The platforms will be raised to enable level boarding of the light rail trains and to allow for better access for all customers. The stairways will also be rehabilitated. Additionally, improved station lighting, advanced customer communications, security cameras, new finishes and art work installations will be features of this station renovation project..

 

Project Cost:

Approximately $8,000,000.

 

Schedule:

Anticipated completion – Fall 2014

 

 

Benefits:

Bloomfield Station is among the most heavily used on Newark Light Rail and is a major transfer point to our network of bus routes. This renovation project will make the station fully accessible to customers.
