Pre-Tax Options at NJ TRANSIT
Many employers offer the pre-tax transit option to their employees by providing the actual transit passes or tickets. Through NJ TRANSIT's BusinessPass program, tickets and passes can be purchased directly at face-value. There are no administrative fees, shipping or handling fees.

First Order
The next step is your first order. No forms are involved. Simply use your company letterhead and list the passes and tickets that are needed. This letter is faxed to Sales & Employer Services at 973-491-4693.
When ordering monthly passes, orders are due by the 14th of the prior month. If your orders are for one-way tickets only, they may be sent at any time.
How do you know what to order? Your employees know what they need to get to work. When you sign them up for payroll deductions, you are capturing the transit information needed to place the order.
Train fares are sold by where you get on and off the train. Bus fares are by zones. The Light Rail systems have passes as well as some cross-honoring options. Sales & Employer Services will help you figure these details out if you need it.
There is a minimum for BusinessPass of more than two monthly passes or 25 one-way tickets.

Passes and tickets arrive with an invoice for payment. It will have your customer ID number. Hold on to that number. It should be used on your future orders, payments and correspondence about the account.

Future Orders
Once you are enrolled in the BusinessPass program and have placed your first order, future orders go directly to the Revenue Department at fax 973-863-4847.

Each month you simply fax in your pass/ticket order. The program flexes with your employees needs as they change. If you do not need passes or tickets you simply do not place an order. We will be here for you when you need them again.
