October 14 PTC UPDATE: Raritan Valley Line: Additional Service Adjustments to Advance Positive Train Control (PTC) - Effective Sunday, October 14, 2018

Ten-percent discount on NJ TRANSIT rail fares for travel in November, December and January

To continue accelerating the installation of the federally-mandated Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment on its rail fleet to meet federal year-end milestones, NJ TRANSIT is making a final set of rail service adjustments. 
During this time, off-peak one-seat Raritan Valley Line (RVL) service to/from Penn Station New York (PSNY) will temporarily originate/terminate at Newark Penn Station.  Other trains throughout the system will have schedule and/or station stop adjustments. These schedule adjustments are temporary with the restoration of regular service anticipated in mid-January 2019.

Raritan Valley Line - Effective Immediately

  • Off-peak, one-seat service on the RVL to PSNY is temporarily suspended effective immediately. Trains will terminate and originate at Newark Penn Station.
  • It is important to note that RVL customers will be receiving the same level of service to/from Penn Station New York, but they will be required to transfer to/from New York trains at Newark Penn Station.

Important Note: Customers are strongly encouraged to view the full rail timetables for all travel options as schedule adjustments, including departure/arrival times and station stops, will be made throughout the system.
