Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line: Up to 20 Minute Delays due to Amtrak Tie Replacement Work to Replace Concrete Ties - Effective Immediately

Effective immediately and continuing through October, Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line outbound trains may be subject to delays due to tie replacement work as Amtrak continues the tie replacement project.

Delays, particularly in the outbound direction near Elizabeth and North Elizabeth stations, can be up to 20 minutes in the PM peak travel times. Delays outside of the PM peak period are also possible.

Customer Impacts:

  • Customers traveling through North Elizabeth and Elizabeth stations will be most affected because only three tracks will be available. Customers will be using platform extensions at these stations. Additionally, North Elizabeth Station is undergoing platform work on both inbound and outbound sides.
  • Customers should remain on the platform until the train comes to a complete stop.  The platform bridges will line up with the end doors of most cars, but center doors and doors near the stairs on multilevel cars will not be used.
  • Customers with disabilities detraining at Elizabeth and North Elizabeth stations should inform the crew at which station they will be detraining.  They may be asked to board in a different car for easier access to the platform. 
  • Customers with disabilities boarding at these stations should see crewmembers on the platform before boarding the train.  Conductors will be available at each station to assist in boarding and detraining.
