Gladstone Branch: Buses Replace Trains between Summit and Gladstone - Weekends/Holidays through Fall 2017

Weekends, Holidays and Summer Midday Weekdays through fall 2017

Effective immediately and continuing through fall 2017, NJ TRANSIT will perform work on the power supply system between Gladstone and Summit stations as well as other work on the Gladstone Branch.

During this time, substitute bus service will be provided by Lakeland Bus Company between Gladstone and Summit on weekends and holidays. Substitute bus service will also operate during midday hours on weekdays from July 10 through August 31. 

Exceptions to these dates are:

  • Tuesday, July 4 (Independence Day): A special train schedule will operate between Gladstone and Summit. 
  • Saturday October 21 (Far Hills Steeplechase):  A special train/bus schedule will operate. 

Customers Traveling Outbound (to Gladstone):  Upon arrival at Summit, customers continuing to stations along the Gladstone Branch will transfer to ADA-accessible buses located on the Railroad Avenue side of the station (exit near the ticket office and restroom). Customers should show their train ticket and/or seat check to the bus operator when boarding.

Customers Traveling Inbound (to Newark/Hoboken/New York): Customers will be bused to Summit.  Two ADA-accessible buses will operate—one serving Murray Hill and New Providence stations and a second making all other stops. When boarding, customers should show their rail ticketto the bus operator. For bus boarding times, please visit njtransit.com or see station schedule posters or the latest timetable.

NOTE: A new timetable effective Sunday, March 19 will include the substitute busing information. This timetable will be available on trains, at major terminals and at stations with ticket offices on or after Thursday, March 9. The busing information will also be published in subsequent timetables as needed until the project ends.
