Bus Route Nos. 87, 88C and 119: Service Delays in Jersey City due to Central Avenue Bridge Closure for Reconstruction through Early Spring 2017
Alternate bus stops available along service routes
Effective immediately and continuing through early spring 2017, the Central Avenue Bridge over Route 139 in Jersey City will be closed for NJ DOT reconstruction work.
During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 87 (Jersey City-Hoboken), No. 88C (North Bergen-Jersey City-Journal Square) and No. 119 (Bayonne-Jersey City-New York) will operate on detours and may experience service delays up to 15 minutes.
Customers should also expect service impacts around areas within the vicinity of the construction work including Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken and Bayonne as well as New York on the 119 Line.
- Buses traveling northbound/eastbound from Summit Avenue at Hoboken Avenue in Jersey City will continue on Summit Avenue north to Jefferson Avenue, turn right on Jefferson Avenue and proceed east to Central Avenue. At Central Avenue, buses will then turn left and resume their regular route.
- Buses traveling southbound from Central Avenue at Jefferson Avenue in Jersey City will turn right on Jefferson Avenue and proceed west to Summit Avenue. Buses will turn left on Summit Avenue and proceed south to Hoboken Avenue/Newark Avenue. Buses will resume the regular route on Summit Avenue at Hoboken Avenue/Newark Avenue.
Customers are advised to planaccordinglyand to allow for extra travel time.
