Detour in Newark - Through January 2019

Effective immediately and continuing through early January 2019, Broad Street is closed between Clay Street and State Street & ramps for Route 280 due to the I-280 and Route 21 Interchange Improvements Project.

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 30 in Newark will operate on a detour.

  • Buses traveling toward Lincoln Park/Newark Penn Station from Harrison Avenue will continue straight to Passaic Avenue, turn right on Passaic Avenue, turn left on Central Avenue which turns into Clay Street to Broad Street, turn left on Broad Street and then will continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward North Arlington Loop from Broad Street will continue to Clay Street, turn right on Clay Street, turn right on McCarter Highway  (Route 21), to Route 280 eastbound, turn right on the ramp for Route 280 East, proceed to Exit 16 (Harrison) and then will continue the regular route.
