Christopher Trucillo was sworn in as the Chief of the NJ TRANSIT Police Department on July 26, 2010. Chief Trucillo began his law enforcement career in 1978 as a municipal police officer in Harrison, New Jersey. In 1986 he joined the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, where he rose through the ranks to be promoted to Chief of Department on February 6, 2004. Chief Trucillo led the Department through a difficult period in the aftermath of September 11th, 2001 that saw a transition from a transit police force to an anti-terror force. During Chief Trucillo's tenure the Department saw unprecedented crime reductions and prepared and participated in high profile events like the Republican National Convention and Pope Benedict XVI's visit to New York City.

Christopher Trucillo was the Director of Public Safety for John Jay College of Criminal Justice/The City University of New York from May 2009 to July 2010. He was responsible for the safety and security of over 12,000 students, faculty and staff, as well as the college's physical assets. John Jay College is a recognized leader in scholarly research on criminal justice and a premier academic institution drawing students from around the world.

Chief Trucillo has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Rutgers University as well as a minor in Sociology. The Chief earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University's School of Criminal Justice in 1991, receiving the Edward Manzione Award for Outstanding Achievement. The Chief is also a graduate of the 29th Session of FBI National Executive Institute and the FBI National Academy.

Currently the Chief is an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University teaching in the graduate program for the College of Education and Human Services. The Chief also serves on the First Responders Advisory Board for Bergen Community College in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Some of the Chief's professional associations include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, The American Academy of Professional Law Enforcement, the New Jersey Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates, the Essex County Chiefs Association, the Hudson County Chiefs Association and the American Society for Industrial Security.
