Route 23 Wayne Park & Ride

Background
A site selection study recommended locating a new proposed Park & Ride facility at a 10-acre property in the southwest quadrant of the West Belt Road Interchange, bounded by Route 23 southbound, West Belt Road, the Montclair-Boonton Line, and I-80 westbound. The site is located about one mile north of the existing Willowbrook Mall Park & Ride in Wayne Township, Passaic County.

Project Scope
The proposed facility will include a surface parking lot with external circulation roadway, a joint-use bus and rail platform, and off-site improvements to the West Belt Interchange.

Project Cost
$51 million

Current Status
Project is currently being redesigned to provide approximately 1100 spaces on a surface parking lot.

Next Milestone
In early 2006, advertise for offsite road improvements construction contract. Complete design of surface parking by winter of 2006.

Benefits
Improved quality of service and facilities to meet increased parking demand.
