Allwood Road Park & Ride Expansion


Background
This project was initiated at the request of the City of Clifton, which had expressed a concern regarding the growing numbers of bus Park & Ride commuters utilizing on street parking because both commuter lots are at capacity. In fact, more than 100 additional daily commuters park illegally within the lots. This parking expansion aims to alleviate the overcrowded and unsafe conditions and allow for some future growth by adding 285 new spaces, bringing capacity up to 695 spaces from the current total of 400.
Project Scope
Work includes expanding the two existing lots by 285 spaces for a grand total of 695 spaces. The project consists of lighting, drainage, pedestrian circulation, bus access and landscaping improvements, as well as the addition of retaining walls along the Garden State Parkway's southbound lanes.
Project Cost
$4.3 million
Current Status
Construction was completed in July of 2005.
