Rahway Parking Deck


Background
As part of the city's ongoing effort to revitalize and redevelop their business district, the City of Rahway (recently designated as a Transit Village), will construct a new, six-level above ground parking deck adjacent to the Rahway Train Station. The goal is to continue to revitalize and redevelop the business district with the addition of a new hotel, the parking deck, and two new rental apartments.
Project Scope
This project was a joint effort between the City of Rahway and NJ TRANSIT to construct a 524-space parking deck adjacent to the train station. The parking deck will designate 300 spaces to NJ TRANSIT commuters. These spaces will be located on the top three levels. The parking deck will include two elevators, accessible parking, security booth and offices with bathrooms, a locker room and kitchenettes. The parking deck will be owned, built and operated by the Rahway Parking Authority.
Project Cost
$11.2 million (Rahway $8.2 million; NJ TRANSIT $3 million)
Current Status
Construction is complete. Project is closed out.

Benefits
New Jersey Transit commuters gained an additional 100 parking spaces.
