Mount Arlington Station Background In July 2004, NJ TRANSIT was given responsibility for the design and construction of a new rail station at the I-80/Howard Boulevard intersection in Mount Arlington, New Jersey. After beginning with NJDOT as a multimodal Bus/Rail Park-and-Ride lot, NJ TRANSIT briefly took on the Rail park and ride aspects of the project, while NJDOT constructed the bus park and ride, which was opened in 2002. The project was then handed back to NJDOT for final site plans in 2002 and subsequently returned to NJ TRANSIT for completion in July 2004. This project will create a multimodal station by constructing 285' ADA compliant High Level Platforms (HLP's) on both sides of the tracks, a pedestrian overpass beneath the tracks and ADA compliant elevators and stairs, an enclosed inbound waiting shelter and also an enlarged the Park-and-Ride lot.
