Morristown Station ADA Improvements


Project Complete

Background
Morristown Station is a key station under NJ TRANSIT's Commuter Rail Accessibility Plan (see the "Rail System Improvements" section for more information on commuter rail accessibility and key stations). Morristown Station is currently not fully accessible to passengers with disabilities. This project will provide accessibility improvements to allow for access for passengers with disabilities.

Project Scope
The Accessibility Improvement Project includes the design and construction of two, mini high-level platforms with canopies and lighting, two elevators, an accessibility retrofit and rehabilitation of the rest rooms in the station building, an extension of the eastbound low-level platform, and miscellaneous accessibility improvements as required to provide for barrier-free access to station facilities.

Project Cost
$6.9 million.
Design and construction are funded by the TTF.

Current Status
Construction of the accessibility improvement are complete.

Next Milestone
None.

Benefits
Completion of accessibility improvements will permit barrier-free access to and from NJ TRANSIT trains serving the Morristown Station.
