Newark Rail Link MOS-2

Background
Newark Rail Link (NRL) MOS-2 is one segment of the larger NRL project, which will provide light rail service to downtown Newark as well as to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Project Scope
The second minimum operating segment (MOS-2) of the Newark Rail Link, formerly known as the Newark-Elizabeth Rail Link, was described in the 1997 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) to proceed south from Newark Penn Station to Newark Liberty International Airport. It is expected to include stations at Mulberry Street near Market Street, Government Center at Mulberry Street and Lincoln Park/Symphony Hall Station at Camp Street.

Project Cost
2000 Conceptual Planning Estimate = $300 - $350 million

Current Status
NJ TRANSIT is pursuing the first minimum operating segment before proceeding with the second phase of this project.

Benefits
The project will provide additional transit service to Newark.
