Pascack Valley Line Right-of-Way Improvement Project

Background
In anticipation of increased services on the Pascack Valley Line (PVL) in support of Secaucus Junction, several initiatives were recommended to alleviate existing constraints on the line, including: removing freight traffic interference on the passenger main track; upgrades to the signal system; and the addition of several passing sidings to provide bi-directional flow.

Project Scope
Design and construction of passing sidings on the PVL and modification to one freight siding.

Project Cost
$39 million

Current Status
Construction is underway.

Next Milestone
Construcion will be completed in the fall of 2007.

Benefits
The Pascack Valley Line track improvements will provide the increased operational flexibility needed to fully service the anticipated increase in riders brought on by the Secaucus Junction project.
